How to find direct phone numbers for B2B prospects
Where direct dials come from, why the switchboard number is useless, and the three ways to get a verified mobile number for a prospect from their LinkedIn profile.

Email gets you into a sequence. A phone call gets you a conversation the same day. But the number on the company website is a switchboard, and the number in a purchased list is the same switchboard with a different label. What you want is a direct dial: the prospect's own mobile number.
This guide covers where direct dials come from, the three ways to find one from a LinkedIn profile, what they cost, and how to check a number before you dial it.
Direct dial versus switchboard
A switchboard is the company's main line. Calling it means a receptionist, a menu, and a transfer that usually ends in voicemail. A direct dial is a number that rings the person: either a desk line assigned to them or, more often now, their mobile.
Mobile numbers are the useful kind. People answer them, they move with the person between jobs, and they work for a text as well as a call. When a phone number finder says "direct dial", ask whether it means mobile. When it says "phone number", assume it might be the switchboard until proven otherwise.
Where the numbers come from
No single database has every mobile number. Data providers collect them from opt-in sources, public records, signatures, and partnerships, and each provider covers a different slice of the market. That is why a phone number finder that queries several providers in real time finds more numbers than one that searches a single index, and why coverage varies by country and by seniority.
It is also why verification matters. A number that was correct two years ago may belong to someone else now. The finders worth paying for validate the number before they return it.
Method 1: Reveal it from the LinkedIn profile
The fastest route is a Chrome extension that shows contact details beside the profile. Open the profile, click, and the panel shows the mobile number with the country and dialing code, next to the verified email.
The LeadVector Chrome extension does this. Mobile number reveal searches multiple phone data providers in real time, validates the number, and charges only when one is found. The number is saved to the contact in your account, so the whole team sees it in the app, the API, and the CLI. From the same panel the contact can be added to a list or straight into a campaign sequence.
Use it when you are researching accounts on LinkedIn and want the number while you are there.
Method 2: Paste the profile URL into a mobile finder
If you are working from a list of LinkedIn URLs rather than browsing, paste them into a mobile number finder. The LeadVector Mobile Finder takes a profile URL and returns a direct dial with the country and dialing code as separate fields, so it drops into a dialer, a CRM, or a CSV without cleanup.
Coverage runs across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, China, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, and the rest of the Gulf. Depth varies by country, so the free credits are the quickest way to test your market.
Use it when you have URLs from Sales Navigator, an event, or a CRM export.
Method 3: Run a spreadsheet through a bulk finder
For a whole list, upload it. Bulk Search runs the mobile finder across every row of a CSV or XLSX, with progress tracking and an export that keeps the country and dialing code in their own columns. A job of a few thousand rows finishes while you do something else.
Use it when you are building a call list rather than researching one account.
What phone numbers cost
Phone data is more expensive than email data, and vendors price it in three ways. Some charge several credits per number, so a phone reveal costs five times an email. Some cap phone reveals at a handful per month regardless of plan. Some, including LeadVector, use the same credit pool and charge only when a number is found.
Whichever model you are looking at, the question to ask is what happens when no number is found. If you are charged anyway, the effective cost per usable number is much higher than the price list suggests.
Check the number before you call
A validated number saves a wasted dial. Three checks are worth doing:
Type. Mobile, landline, or VoIP. Mobile numbers answer; landlines are often a desk that nobody sits at.
Country and dialing code. A number without its country code is a guess when it comes to dialing internationally. Finders that return the code separately avoid the problem.
Recency. Numbers that were validated when found are more likely to still be live than numbers from a static list.
Calling rules to respect
Business-to-business calling is lawful in most markets, but the rules differ. Some countries require you to honour a do-not-call register even for business numbers. Some restrict calling hours. Mobile numbers are personal data under GDPR, so keep a record of your lawful basis and delete a number when someone asks. This is not legal advice; check the rules for each country you call into.
Frequently asked questions
Can I find someone's mobile number from LinkedIn?
Yes, if a data provider has it. Open the profile with the LeadVector extension or paste the URL into the Mobile Finder. If no number is found, you are not charged.
Are the numbers direct dials or switchboards?
The Mobile Finder returns the number tied to the person on the profile, not the company's main line.
How accurate are B2B phone numbers?
It depends on the provider and the country. Searching several providers in real time and validating the number before returning it gives the best odds. Test on fifty of your own prospects before you build a workflow around any tool.
Do I need a separate phone tool if I already have an email finder?
Not with LeadVector. Email reveal and mobile number reveal sit in the same panel, use the same credits, and save to the same contact.
